WV proposes eliminating State tax on Social Security
There are now only 13 U.S. states which levy a tax on Social Security income but, if West Virginia’s governor has his way, that number will soon go to twelve. In his State of the State address yesterday, Gov. Jim Justice called for elimination of West Virginia’s state tax on Social Security income, which is certainly good news for West Virginia senior citizens relying on Social Security to pay their monthly living expenses. If passed, West Virginia would join 37 other U. S. states plus the District of Columbia which do not levy an income tax on Social Security benefits, putting more money into the pockets of those who collect benefits. Although it’s still only a proposal, this direction is good news for WV’s Social Security beneficiaries and was reported on Harrisonburg, WV’s TV station, WHSV3. Click here to read more.
