Lots at stake for Buchanan on Social Security debate

Quite possibly, no one in Congress has more at stake in the debate over Social Security than U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan. Not only is the Longboat Key Republican the only member from Florida on the committee that is preparing to debate changing the formulas on how benefit increases are calculated, but he also represents more Social Security recipients than all but one other member of the 435-member House.
