  1. I am curious is there is any consideration to waive social security over payments for retired healthcare workers mobilized to support COVID vaccination initiatives.

    • Lou Ann,
Social Security has announced changes to (streamlining of) their processes for handling overpayment waiver requests, but we’re not aware of any special overpayment relief simply because you left retirement to assist with COVID-19 initiatives. However, if you were overpaid SS benefits during the pandemic as a consequence of Social Security not performing their duties in a timely manner, then you can request a waiver of an overpayment which happened as a result of Social Security’s lack of action during the pandemic. To do this you can request a waiver of the overpayment on the basis of it being “against equity and good conscious” which basically means the overpayment was due to Social Security’s actions (or lack thereof). You can do that by submitting form SSA-632, which you can find at this link: https://www.ssa.gov/forms/ssa-632.html
