Working in Retirement? The Good and Not so Good
Stefon Walters explains that many people want to work during the first phase of retirement. Citing the statistic that $315,000 is required for a 65 year old couple to pay health expenses in retirement, one can see why many choose to work. But one must navigate Social Security’s earning limit if that work occurs between 62 and 67. Walters explains the somewhat complicated retirement earnings test. This may further reduce people’s benefits before they reach full retirement age (FRA). But the money that’s withheld will be added back once you reach FRA. Full piece here.
