Congress Considering Bill to Aid Identity Theft Victims

Congress.gov reports that Bill No. H.R. 3784, requiring the Social Security Administration (SSA) to provide a single point of contact for any individual whose Social Security account number has been misused or whose Social Security card has been lost in the course of transmission from the SSA to the individual, is under consideration. If passed, this Bill would require that the single point of contact must track the individual’s case to completion and coordinate with other specialized units to resolve case issues as quickly as possible.
