A new Social Security scam is going around in Michigan. These emails claim they will help you get your Cost of Living Increase (COLA). Your COLA is automatically applied each year by the Social Security Administration (SSA). As the scam has started in Michigan, it is likely that it will be in other states soon.
The SSA will never email, text, or call you. The SSA will always notify you by mail. Never give anyone your Social Security number or bank account information by replying to an email, text, or phone call, and do not click on any links they may contain.
