“Social Security isn’t always an old people’s program.” - Mecklenburg Times
That statement is plucked directly out of a column by prominent columnist, author, and former Social Security Administration official Tom Margenau. Many who read his publications enjoy his down-home insights into the practical side of Social Security and how the rules are applied, and this most recent column, appearing on the Mecklenburg Times website, is undoubtedly one that resonates with us “old guys” often facing the need to interpret one of the mysteries of Social Security–the rules resulting in children receiving benefits payment from a program designed principally for older folks.
