The Social Security Administration Is Going Big on Technology - Newsbreak
On March 7th, 2026, Social Security is launching its new National Scheduling and Workload Systems. These two new systems will change how the field offices handle claims and schedule appointments. When the SSA implements the National Appointment Scheduling Calendar (NASC), you will be able to go online to self-schedule your initial claims appointment. It is meant to help you find an appointment time that will work for you.
The National Workload Management (NWLM) program will align with the NASC model and allow SSA field office workers to speak with beneficiaries nationwide, not just in their local office.

The article mentions using an AI chatbot so you can get your questions answered at any time of day or night. From personal experience as a Social Security advisor, AI is not always right. Social Security rules are changing, and those changes are not always reflected in AI. If you have questions about Social Security, I recommend speaking with a Social Security Advisor. You may speak with an AMAC Foundation Accredited Social Security Advisor by calling (888)750-3622. Or email your questions to ssadvisor@amacfoundation.org.
