The latest 2027 COLA estimates - 401k Specialist

The Social Security Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) is calculated based on the year-over-year percentage increase in the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) from the third quarter of the previous year to the third quarter of the current year. However, this does not discourage experts from predicting that the 2027 COLA will be between 3.9 percent and 4.2 percent, which is 1.1 percentage points higher than last year’s COLA of 2.8 percent.
