COLA for 2027 Will Be Realeased In October 2026 - Watcher.gura
The estimates for the expected cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for 2027 are running high. The current estimate is around 3.8%, a full percent higher than this year’s 2.8%.
However, the actual COLA for next year won’t be known until approximately October 15th. The COLA is based on only the third quarter of this year compared to the third quarter of last year. The months used are July, August, and September. The increase is based on the CPI-W, the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers.
You also have to factor in any increase to Medicare Part B, which is deducted directly from your payment. The cost tends to increase each year, and the current estimate is $209.50, up from 202.90 this year. The actual cost will not be known until around November 15th.
Loredana Harsana has written an article about the projected increases for 2027. If you are trying to estimate your net benefit for 2027, you may use these figures, but they will also be estimates.
