SSI Address Change Service Enhancements

As part of our ongoing commitment to improving how we serve the American public, we recently announced an enhanced call-routing process for people applying for survivor benefits. To better support Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients, we now route calls from people who need to change their address to specially trained representatives.
SSI recipients who contact our National 800 Number to change their address are now connected directly to specialists who can complete these requests during the first call. This targeted approach helps ensure that SSI recipients receive expert assistance without the need for follow-up calls or visits to a local Social Security office.
Since we started this process in early June, we’ve answered nearly 50,000 calls from SSI recipients requesting address changes. We’ve been able to respond to the vast majority of these calls quickly, typically under a minute. Customer satisfaction has remained strong throughout this period.
These improvements reflect our ongoing efforts to make interactions simpler, faster, and more effective. By connecting callers directly to representatives with specialized SSI experience, we are improving first call resolution and enhancing customer satisfaction.
