Social Security Scales Back Services During Shutdown

Because of the government shutdown, Social Security offices all over the country are cutting down on staff and services.If you call the number for the Peoria office on Pioneer Parkway, you’ll hear a recording that says, “During the government shut down, local Social Security offices, except card centers are open for a limited number of services.” With the government shut down, non-essential employees have been furloughed, but that means some services are also taking an unpaid vacation.
