A wave of new Social Security benefit claims
With the signing of the Social Security Fairness Act into law on January 5, 2025, the Social Security Administration has, “To date, we have processed approximately 30,000 of these new initial claims and, depending on their age and other factors of entitlement, some of these new beneficiaries are receiving retroactive payments.” Medora Lee explains why the payments are taking so long.
