Benefits Paid to the Deceased and Other Mistakes

A recent report showed that the Social Security Administration was paying out benefits to the deceased to the tune of $46.8 million. This same report showed a wave of fraud that went unnoticed before losing millions as well as a series of overpayments that added up to almost $20 billion. This was due to consecutive and uncaught administrative and clerical errors. The administration has since started to shore up on mistakes which has caused a slowdown in the time it takes people to get approved for legitimate applications.
