Did Social Security accidentally declare you dead?

Believe it or not, Social Security accidentally declares about 7,400 a year dead, while they are still very much alive.  It typically happens as a data entry error, and often is because a spouse or someone else close is recently deceased, but when it happens it can create chaos in your life.  It’s vitally important that you contact Social Security immediately to get it corrected, but the ramifications with financial institutions, credit agencies and the like will haunt you for a long time.  This article by Liz Weston of NerdWallet was published in the Denver Post.  Click here to read more about how this can happen, and what you should do f it happens to you.
