Enrolling in Medicare During the Coronavirus Crisis

In the midst of the clamor over how stimulus payments will be received, and with all Social Security field offices closed to public access and staffed at reduced levels, one thing that remains unclear is how to enroll in Medicare now. For those who are already collecting Social Security, they need not worry – they will be automatically enrolled in Medicare Part A and Part B just prior to their 65th birthday. But for others who need to do the Medicare enrollment themselves, visiting the SS office is, at least temporarily, no longer an option. Telephone enrollment is, of course, still available, but with the current crisis in full swing excruciatingly long wait times on the telephone are now the norm.  The best way?
