IRS Releases Guidance for Non-Filers to Provide Information for Stimulus Payments

Information on the “web portal” promised by the IRS for individuals who have not filed tax returns in 2018 or 2019 was released late yesterday in an announcement from the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service. “The ‘Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info Here’ web portal is a tool for Americans who are not required to file tax returns to make sure they receive their payment as quickly and safely as possible,” said Secretary Steven T. Mnuchin. “Our teams at Treasury and the IRS are working around the clock to ensure American workers and families receive their Economic Impact Payments.”

Assuming you are receiving your SSDI payments through direct deposit the IRS already has what they need to route your stimulus payment. According to the publications we’ve been checking, there is nothing further you need to do, and the payment should be made the same way your SSDI payments are received. If you do not receive your SSDI through direct deposit, and you haven’t filed income tax returns in 2018 or 2019, you should use the IRS “Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info Here” web portal to submit your information so the IRS knows where to direct the payment. You can access this web portal at this address: https://www.freefilefillableforms.com/#/fd/EconomicImpactPayment.
