Plan for Early Retirement, Even If You Don’t Want to Retire Early

To paraphrase Robert Burns, “the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry,” and that is an excellent warning to keep in mind when planning for your retirement. For no matter how carefully you plan your future, changes which may disrupt, or even totally derail, your retirement plan will almost certainly take place. A good example of this is the COVID-19 pandemic, which has pulled the rug out from many a senior who had planned to work well into their 60s or 70s, only to suddenly find themselves unemployed and unemployable.
