Real-Life Scams in Action

The scammers and fraudsters are continuing their relentless assault on the general population, and many of their targets are Social Security and Medicare beneficiaries. While we strive to keep all our readers current on trends in the murky world of schemes and identification theft, it’s also goof from time to time to take a look at some actual attacks documented by the ERISA consultants at the Retirement Learning Center (RLC). Two recent situations are reviewed in a post by the National Association of Plan Advisors’ Jenny Kiffmeyer, JD appearing on their website. Her article, which you can access here, describes the approach used by the scammers and contains links to articles that can help you avoid falling victim to these nefarious acts.
