Should You Take Social Security Early?

Most Social Security advisors will suggest that waiting to claim your Social Security benefits is the best way to increase your benefit amount. And that is, indeed, true. But, life is full of realities where waiting until a later age to stake your claim to Social Security isn’t the right move. For example, if you lose your job or otherwise become unable to work, that extra money from your early Social Security benefits could very well spell the difference between poverty and comfortable living. And if your health is bad and your life expectancy low, claiming benefits early may be wise, simply because it will yield you more in lifetime benefits than waiting would.
