It’s what everyone should do, but too few do– optimize your Social Security benefit amount. Georgina Tzanetos explains the simple rule of thumb– the earlier you claim, the less you get per month, but you get more checks; the longer you wait the larger the checks will be, though there will be fewer of them. What to do? She recommends considering your own health, spouse’s situation, and make sure to work the maximum 35 years to avoid a “zero” being placed into your calculation. Full piece here.
