Social Security Spousal Benefits – A Primer

Keith Speights notes most Social Security benefits go to retirees receiving a payment based on their own work record. But spouses can qualify too. There are three general eligibility requirements for collecting Social Security spousal benefits: 1.) You must have been married for at least one year. 2.) You must be at least 62 years old. 3.) Your spouse must already receive Social Security retirement benefits. Ex-spouses can also qualify for Social Security spousal benefits even after a divorce if conditions are met. Full article here.
