What’s in a Name for the Boomer Generation

Nicknames have fallen out of favor in recent years. Many factors have led to the decline in once common monikers. One of the reasons is in recent naming trends. In the past it was common to carry on a naming tradition of giving a child the name of their father or grandfather or other relative. In this instance a nickname was useful to tell them apart, leading to nicknames like “Jr” or “Trip.” Now, though, younger parents are avoiding this practice and springing for more unique names.
