The advantages of claiming your Social Security benefits early

According to a study from the Center for Retirement Research at Boston College, despite the benefits of waiting to claim your Social Security benefit, 48 percent of women and 42 percent of men started taking benefits at 62 and a full 64 percent of women and 53 percent of men claimed benefits before they reached their full retirement age (FRA).

It’s logical to assume that most people who claimed early might eventually regret that decision; however, according to a new study, most Social Security beneficiaries who claimed benefits early don’t regret their decision, even when they know they could have received bigger checks if they waited.
