Clearing Up the Medicare Enrollment Confusion

Congressional action appears to be on the horizon to clear up the confusion surrounding when and how to enroll in Medicare. For those still in the workforce or for those who have delayed filing for their Social Security benefits beyond their full retirement age, the details of picking up Medicare have been a bit mystical. Identical House and Senate bills called the Benefit Enrollment Notification and Eligibility Simplification (BENES) Act sponsored by Senators Todd Young (R-IN) and Bob Casey (D-PA) and by Representatives Raul Ruiz (D-CA) and Patrick Meehan (R-PA) are now in play.
