Single women and widows would be hurt the most if Social Security is cut
Nearly half (44 percent) of all unmarried and widowed women get 90 percent or more of their total income from Social Security, compared to just 21 percent of married women over age 65 according to the Social Security Administration. With Social Security program approaching insolvency, this is the demographic that will be hit the hardest by any reduction in benefits.
