Never too soon to start thinking about Social Security
Social Security is, of course, one of America’s most important senior benefit programs. But that doesn’t mean that you should wait until you are a senior citizen to start thinking about it. The Social Security benefit you will get will be determined by a couple of different factors, but one of the most important is your lifetime earnings history. When the time comes, your benefits will be computed using the highest 35 years of earnings (amounts adjusted for inflation) over your entire career, so that by itself should be enough to make you think about your future while you still have the ability to influence it.
