2026 Healthcare Costs Going Up! - Press Reader

I guess it’s not terribly surprising that healthcare costs, along with most other living expenses, are going up next year. And, for healthcare, those increases are significant – from the Medicare premiums seniors must pay for their coverage, through the deductible amounts which must be met before healthcare expenses are covered. For example, the 2026 Medicare Part B standard premium goes up $17.90 per month to $202.90, and the Part B deductible goes up by $26 to $283 per year. Medicare Part B provides coverage for outpatient healthcare services (doctors, medial tests, etc.). And although Medicare Part A (coverage for inpatient hospitalization services) is free for those who are eligible for Social Security, the Part A deductible goes up by $60 to $1736 in 2026. And, take note, the Part A deductible is not an annual thing – it restarts with each new hospital stay after 60 days. All of this, and more about rising Medicare costs, are explained in this Press Reader article by Toni King.
