Customer Service at Social Security - GoBankingRates

As a non-government Social Security Advisory Service, our staff here at the AMAC Foundation deals almost every day with Americans who are frustrated with their experiences trying to deal with the Social Security Administration. Many have tried and given up in exasperation when trying to call Social Security to obtain even basic information about their benefits. Others have experienced benefit problems and been met with exorbitant delays with Social Security processing their claims. The stories are nearly endless, all of which points to fundamental customer service issues at the SSA. No question that the pandemic has contributed to that, but reality is that for many years Social Security has been operating with budget constraints, which translates to staff shortages, which translates to long wait times for beneficiaries.
