Social Security Subcommittee Holds Hearing Identity Fraud
The House Ways and Means Social Security Subcommittee conducted a hearing today on the Social Security Administration’s Role in Combatting Identity Fraud, described in the hearing’s opening remarks as an “important topic that affects every American.” Featured in the hearing was a statement from South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem describing the personal impact on her family as the result of the inadvertent public disclosure of their Social Security numbers via the Internet.
