If you are retired homeowner and want to relocate or downsize but still need to finance that purchase, you may be surprised to discover that qualifying for a mortgage is a bit different now.  Retires can have a lot of money but show very little income and have difficulty qualifying for a mortgage but it’s not impossible.  In Sarah O’Brien’s article appearing on www.cnbc.com, she writes with mortgage rates low and inventory in many markets tight, it may be necessary for retired homebuyers to do some strategizing and planning ahead to qualify for a mortgage in retirement.
