Social Security Crisis in Brazil: The Need for True Reform That Will Change the Country

The Brazilian Congress is facing a crisis. It knows it must approve tax adjustments and reforms proposed by Finance Minister Joaquim Levy, however members also fear making unpopular decisions during municipal elections, which are slated for next year. This pseudo-dilemma is nothing but cheap populism and demonstrates Congress’ lack of commitment to the country….Brazil’s main problem is social security. If Congress and the government want to form a pact and build a block committed to the country, they should urgently propose rigorous social security reform. Read more…
