With a program as vast and complex as Social Security, it should come as no surprise that there are many myths and misconceptions about benefits, especially those which are unique and apply only in specific circumstances. But studies have shown that most people aren’t familiar with even the most basic Social Security rules, as reported in this CNBC article by Lori Konish. The study on which the article is based posed 12 very basic questions about Social Security to about 1500 people. And the results provided an unsettling realization that most don’t know even the basics about this program that will become an important part of their financial future.
