On Expanding Social Security

There has been a lot of talk about fixing Social Security recently. Proposals range widely in their implementation from expanding benefits to tightening and everything in between. Expanding benefits has been gaining steam in the wake of the reports showing how destitute recent retirement savings have been for new retirees. Proponents of this fix argue that the insolvency crisis facing Social Security is blown out of proportion and that reducing benefits now would leave retirees even worse off and cause a poverty crisis among our nation’s seniors.
