Set a date for your retirement? Don’t count on it

Many people approach their retirement planning with a specific age in mind that they want to hang up their work clothes.  But when that time comes, many are finding out that the stars haven’t aligned well enough to allow retiring at that age actually happen.  For one thing, unless you have diligently saved and built your nest egg to hold you through possibly decades of retirement, you may find you need to continue working to boost your retirement account’s value.  For another, you may simply be enjoying your work so much that you can’t imagine yourself leaving a workplace environment you love.  As this Motley Fool article by Maurie Backman explains, there are at least three good reasons why you might retire later than planned.  Click here to read more.
